Dysport vs. Xeomin vs. Botox: What's the Difference?
Dysport, Xeomin, and Botox are all wrinkle relaxers, also called neuromodulators. All three are FDA-approved to soften frown lines between the brows, and all three work the same basic way: they relax the muscles that crease your skin when you make an expression. So why are there three, and which one should you get?
What they have in common
Same goal: smoother lines from frowning, squinting, and raising your brows.
Same kind of appointment: a few small injections, usually in under 30 minutes, with little to no downtime.
Temporary results: most people see results last about three to four months, depending on the area, the dose, and how their body processes it.
How they differ
Dysport (offered at FORMAT)
Starts working: often within 2–3 days.
Spread: spreads a little more, which can suit larger areas like the forehead.
Formula: contains small accessory proteins.
Xeomin (offered at FORMAT)
Starts working: usually within 3–5 days.
Spread: stays closer to where it's placed.
Formula: a "naked" formula with no accessory proteins.
Botox (not offered at FORMAT)
Starts working: usually within 3–5 days.
Spread: stays closer to where it's placed.
Formula: contains small accessory proteins.
Units aren't one-to-one. A Dysport dose uses more units than a Botox dose for the same area, so comparing prices by the unit can be misleading. Ask your injector for the total cost of your treatment instead.
Why some people choose Xeomin
Xeomin is often called a "pure" or "naked" neuromodulator because it doesn't include accessory proteins. Some providers prefer it for people who want a simpler formula, or who feel their results have faded faster over time with other brands.
Why some people choose Dysport
Dysport tends to start working a little sooner and spreads slightly more. That can make it a good fit for broader areas, like forehead lines.
Which one is right for you?
The best choice depends on your face, your goals, and your history with injectables. That's a conversation, not a menu pick. At your consultation, our aesthetic nurse injector will look at how your muscles move, ask about past treatments, and recommend a product and dose. All treatments are done under physician oversight.
